12/5/21 Worship

“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth;
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

Church Family,

It’s the second week of Advent and the first of two weeks focusing on John the Baptist. I hope today you can consider how you might make more room in your heart for the Lord and for your neighbor this holiday season.

Please consider supporting the Johnny Basden family at the fundraiser today from 4pm-6pm at the Mt. Hermon Community Center.

Our Christmas Eve service will take place at 5:30pm Christmas Eve.

The Mobile Library will return this Tuesday at 10:30am.

For the winter, I will still plan to keep the hours Wednesday and Sunday from 1-3pm open, but won’t physically be on the porch in the cold. Feel free to reach out to make an appointment!

Along with prerecorded worship we continue to livestream in-person worship at https://www.facebook.com/SwepsUMC

In the bulletin on Sunday I’ve been including resources for a personal devotion and scripture readings throughout the week. After all, our worship continues every day and not just Sundays. I will begin publishing these in our emails as well for folks who miss Sunday. See below, and I’d be happy to talk over personal prayer practices with anyone interested.

In devotions on Wednesdays I’ll be working through 1 Thessalonians with an eye towards Advent themes.

I’ve tried to work on making our prayer list below more detailed. If you’d like to add a prayer or detail to a concern below feel free to call, text, or email at any time.

Our Google Meet will convene tonight at 6:30pm for our Christmas study looking at Matthew 1:18-2:23. We hope you’ll join us!

God bless all of you!
