10/13/21 Devotion

October 14, 2021 by pclyburn Leave a Comment

“Therefore keep the commandments of the Lord your God, by walking in his ways and by fearing him.”

Church Family,

October 17th will be Laity Sunday. We believe that all of us (not just clergy) are called to ministry in the world, and laity Sunday is a wonderful witness to that truth. We’ll have the chance to hear from many of our lay leaders as well as a message from Glenda Payne. We hope you’ll join us in person or live on facebook!

We are so thankful for everyone who participated in the baby shower Sunday! It’s so amazing to be part of such a caring and supportive community. We can’t thank all of you enough.

In the coming weeks in these devotions I’ll cover some Methodist/Wesleyan topics. These will probably include:

Free Will
Conferencing
Scriptural interpretation
Good Works

As I noted, this week starts three weeks on free will.
If there’s anything you’d like me to cover regarding our tradition, or biblical/theological questions you’d like explored I’d be very happy to cover them midweek.
We’ve sent out invites for the baby shower October 10th. We’ll have some physical copies at church Sunday. If you need a new link/copy or would like a physical copy feel free to let me know.

I will be back on the porch Sunday from 1-3pm as well as Wednesdays. I’m going to work hard to keep these hours, and I’d love for you to stop by and chat.
Stone Soup Menus could use some backup drivers, not necessary to make a weekly commitment. Please let me know if you’re interested. If you’d like to get more involved with this miraculous ministry in any way feel free to reach out.

I’m trying to add more detail to our prayer list. If you’d like to add a prayer or some detail to a name or if I’ve forgotten anyone, feel free to email and I will update the list. Those of you worshiping online only can also call me with prayer requests if needed.

Our Google Meet will meet this Sunday to discuss Leviticus 7:19-27 and 8:1-13. We hope you’ll join us!
