“If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
Church Family,
In today’s scripture Jesus reminds us (and his disciples) of his participation in the suffering of the world, that part of his incarnation involves a true presence and experience with those who suffer. If I didn’t say it above, it an essential reminder as we remember the 20th anniversary of a day that involved so much pain, confusion and fear. As we worship God today, we give thanks for a God that knows our own struggles alongside all those who cry out in our nation and across the world.
Along with this prerecorded service of worship, I’ll be attempting a livestream of worship this morning at 11:00am at https://www.facebook.com/SwepsUMC I can’t promise it will work, but I’m interested to try out the technology as something to use regularly during and post pandemic.
The Church Council and Finance Committee will meet this afternoon at 4:00pm
In devotions on Wednesdays I’ll be moving on from Mark, and in the coming weeks I’ll cover some Methodist/Wesleyan topics. If there’s anything you’d like me to cover regarding our tradition, or biblical/theological questions you’d like explored I’d be very happy to cover them midweek.
I’ve tried to work on making our prayer list below more detailed. If you’d like to add a prayer or detail to a concern below feel free to call, text, or email at any time.
Our Google Meet will not meet tonight, but will begin with Leviticus 1 next week. We hope you’ll join us!
