I was so thankful for the bishop’s message at noon today, and to finish your Ash Wednesday we’d like to share the devotion above from Billy. I’m thankful for him as well. I’m so excited to keep up with Billy’s devotions in the coming weeks as he explores our vows of service to the church through prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. It’s a great chance to remember why we are here and where God is calling us. Billy is in his final semester of Divinity School and is planning on being appointed in July, so I know he’d love to talk to some of you and hear any advice you might have. You can email him at billy.sander.13@gmail.com or call him (Fridays are best) at (919)988-0616 if you’d like to get to know him better or to share your own story.
Billy will be leading our Google Meet for the next four weeks as we explore Job. For Sunday you can prepare by reading Job 1-2 if you have the time.
Feel free to reach out at gchristen@nccumc.org or (608)576-0250 with any questions, concerns, or prayer requests
Peace,
Gordon

2/14/21 Worship
Church Family,
“Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around, through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?
Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In Your company I’ll go where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you and you in me.”
What a reminder to do good as servants of God! As we continue studying the General Rules, I’d invite you to prepare for Lent by familiarizing yourself with them and perhaps considering where you can further “do no harm” in your life and allow Christ to “take away our bent to sinning.”

I will further add that we are approaching another pandemic Lent. Our conference is providing daily devotions throughout Lent and an online worship for Ash Wednesday at Noon. I’d invite you to sign up at the link below, and I believe the online worship will be at the same link.
I’ve tried to work on making our prayer list below more detailed. If you’d like to add a prayer or detail to a concern below feel free to call, text, or email at any time.
If you are planning on attending in person on this cold, wet morning, as a reminder please don’t plan on arriving earlier than 10-15 minutes before 11:00. The doors will not be open.
Our Google Meet will not meet tonight, but will begin studying Job with our intern Billy Sander next Sunday. Tonight and next week you’re invited to begin reading Job and collecting insights and questions.
